Audre Lorde was a noted civil rights activist. As a lesbian (but also bisexual) woman of color she wrote with poetic force on feminism, sexism, racism, class, civil rights, & the identity that is the Black woman.
She is remembered for her poetry, which was characterized by her technical mastery, emotional expression, and use of anger & outrage at personal experiences she had with civil & social injustice throughout her life. |

I've always loved quotes, especially from strong women of color. The translation of their power through voice is unmistakable across the void. I came to this quote through a talented artistic activist, Alexis P. Morgan (aka The Abbess of The Church of St. Felicia). In the short time I have known her (2 years as of this posting) I have had the privilege of seeing her strength manifest and been introduced to many experiences of otherwise I would have been deprived.
Watercolors & contour drawings, as well as calligraphy, are among some of my favorite mediums, so when the idea came to me to create this piece I knew it would be at the intersection of those mediums. The original I made and gave as a birthday present to the aforementioned Alexis, but I loved the piece so much I knew I had to make it available to others. I went with a limited run of prints, a total of 25 (of which 24 are still available).
Each print has been signed, dated, & numbered by hand by me. It is also backed on foam board & placed in a protective sleeve to it's ready to hang on your wall or place wherever. In addition to this I include a handmade chakra floret, for the Solar Plexus (seat of will & power) + a handpicked piece of raw Citrine to remind you of your personal power (not pictured).
