Sara's Bio:

I'm a wife and mother to 2 amazing children.  When I'm not spending time with my family or friends, I'm busy creating one of a kind items that are reusable and eco-friendly.
1.  How long have you been sewing?
I have been sewing for over 20 years.  My grandmother started teaching me when I was very young, and I just fell in love with it and kept going.  I'm in a completely different world when I'm sitting at my machine creating something new.

2.  What inspires you most?
Almost anything inspires me.  I can look at a fruit tray and design a new handbag from the colors and patterns that are sitting there.

3.  What are your favorite supplies?
I LOVE bright obnoxious material.  I try to stay pretty neutral and use a little of everything because I know not everyone has my same taste.

4.  Do you have a favorite tool?
Besides my sewing machine, my rotary cutter is my absolute favorite tool.  I can cut anything out in no time at all.  It really helps the process go faster.

5.  What is your work space like?
I have taken over the entire basement of my home and turned it into my work space.  My sewing table has 2 sewing machines, a serger, and an embroidery machine on it.  I also have a cutting table, 3 drawer storage for fabric and small finished pieces, large tote for storing larger items, bed frame that I use for hanging large amounts of fabric on and of course a couple ironing boards.  I really love it down there.

6.  When do you find the most time to work?
I don't really have a set time of day that I work.  Sometimes it's at night and sometimes it's during the day.  It really depends on what I have going on.

7.  How does your work fit into the rest of your life?
I love what I do and I'm thrilled that my family supports me.  My husband will tell me that he'll make dinner or get our son ready for bed, and send me on my way to get some sewing done.  He'll make sure that I do not get disturbed.  He's so sweet.  My daughter will sit right next to me at the table and sew right along with me.  She's in the learning process right now and I love that we can share that time together.

8.  How often a week do you get to work?
I try to sew at least 3-4 days a week.  Sometimes it's only 1-2.

9.  Do you sell your work?  Directly? Indirectly?
I do sell my items on Facebook and Storenvy.

10.  Do you have a business (on or offline)?  Consign?
At this time I only sell online.

11.  Do you have a website?  Blog? Facebook profile or fan page? Myspace? Twitter? Pinterest?
I do have a FB Fan page and I'm also on twitter

12.  Where do you feel your work fits in your market?
I'd like to see my items sold in a store one day, preferably my own.   Most of my items are one of a kind.  The only ones I won't duplicate are custom orders I have made for other customers.

13.  What is your favorite part?
My favorite part is working on custom pieces.  It gives me a chance work one on one with my customers.

14.  How did you get into sewing?
My grandmother started me with sewing.  She tried teaching me to crochet/knit, paint and draw, but sewing is what I fell in love with and I have been doing ever since.

15.  Favorite deceased artist?  Why?
I have to say that Thomas Kinkade is my favorite.  The first time I saw one of his paintings, I fell in love.

16.  Favorite live artist?  Why?
This may sound cheesy, but my grandmother is my favorite.  This woman can do anything, and I mean anything.  Her paintings are absolutely beautiful, and when it comes to crafting she can do it all.
