The Glass Bites...

I feel like I've been gone a long while.  Even as the holiday season has past I seem slow to come back online.  However, my creative drive definitely hasn't taken a backseat.

I'm sitting here carefully sifting through my glass shelf, where I keep larger pieces and sheets, searching for "just the right glass" for some snowflakes.  I'm realizing that some of these bits are just not suitable, especially when it comes to strange textured ones or odd colors.  While I'm steering towards white & clear or a combination, I'm not above throwing in a translucent color here and there for spice.
At this point I'm feeling a little adventurous and keeping in mind I have 7 glass snowflake patterns to pick for it's like a funny scavenger hunt.  The one finished below is dominating the wall and might end up being my favorite.

The two smaller waiting to be ground, taped, and soldered are okay.  I'm not in love with them because they didn't go as planned but that's the way of art isn't it?  It's not about what you plan, but what it means to become (Click to Tweet!)
It's funny too how this all works out.  Most of this glass I haven't even looked at since I received it.  For those who don't know stained glass work isn't hard per se, but it's something to "do properly".  It saves you headache, mess, and injury in the long run.  Every time I pick up a piece I am reminded of the patience it takes.  Like lace knitting its easy to mess it up and not always easy to repair.  Even when it is it can still be frustrating, but the care taken to do things right the first time is well worth the time it takes.

Like what you've read?  Ever worked with stained glass or another medium that you've noticed "must be done right" or else? Tell me about it in the comments below and be sure to visit my social media profiles to add me to your network and join my newsletter!
