Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world. ~ Harriet Tubman
Following my dreams and creative ramblings can make for an interesting and hectic adventure. Sometimes long and sometimes short...but as my t-shirt says "never a dull moment". At times the challenge seems frustrating, but nothing good comes without work (in my estimation anyway.) The pain & struggle, blood, sweat, & tears give character and meaning to the work that without it would be lost.
Engage Your Daydreams
Mercury enters Gemini (6/12, 7:22 pm EDT). Mercury is exalted in Gemini, one of the signs it rules (along with Virgo). This time delineates excellent communication and an abundance of social opportunities coupled with lighthearted fun. Staging a creative date or getting together with another inspiring person can lead to joyous conversations!
Neptune goes Retrograde (6/13, 4:43 pm EDT). Since the outer planets go retrograde for significantly longer, and in general affect larger groups of people the effects appear diminished compared to the personal planets. But as the planet of both dreams & illusions you may want to take a closer look at those flights of fancy & daydreams through the several months (till just after mid November). What secrets do your dreams hold?
Drawing on Your Strengths
The Celtic Tree Month of Oak begins (6/10). Oak's energy is about strength & structure. Having a plan for the creative work you're doing right now and for the next month or so will help it come to fruition more easily. Taking notes and learning from what has worked for you in the past also serves this purpose. Does your creativity tend to be structured or all over the place?
How the Times Doth Fly
My elder little is turning 5 tomorrow...which is a whole bunch of I can't believe it! Talk about feeling old (and I know if you're kids are older you've got me beat), I just am having the hardest time wrapping my head around this fact! And now our family has a birthday each month from April (my other) to July (mine), which is just a bit exciting to be honest. Partially because I love cake & giving gifts!
Embracing Mad Makings
It seems I've been working like a mad hatter lately. With a nice little influx of custom orders in my docket it makes for a bit of juggling and a lot of care.
A baby shower gift is on the drawing board, we're going with a woodland theme but colors and specs are still being determined. (I am not so secretly excited about adding more things for kidlets to the shop however. I've got a wolf amigurumi in the works too, but that's for a little later. There's also a pair of earrings, another in my I AM series that may make it's way to the queue soon as well!
I'm also adding another element back into my work & merging it with a long love of mine that I've just been dying to get into...cardmaking. You see, one of the things about my mother (one of the primary inspirations for my choice to do the work I do), is that she seemed to just be able to pick up an artform and run with it with ease. When she started making layered snowflake cards...I was fascinated. Because I LOVE dimension & nuance I knew one day, somehow I was going to get into this. I just had to figure out precisely the way it would come forward.
Et voila...I've got a Custom Thank You Card for My Pretty Brown Doll in the works, featuring some #blackgirlmagic & #squadgoals. Yolonda's vision, for little Black girls & women everywhere to see the beauty in every shade of brown is a message I can fully support. Not only as a WOC (woman of color) myself, but because I've always been an outcast for one reason or another. Make sure you check out her adorable dolls here!
The final coup de grace...and bit I am most excited about...is another goddess doll. I'll let you follow along on Instagram, but I might also put something up on the blog about it. For now, a quick peek at what we're working with...
Where I'm At Now
I've got a lot of blog posts in the queue, and with the excitement of the tiny human & lots of orders coming in writing hasn't quite been the priority. The best place to find me right now is Instagram. I hop on a few times each day, once for the #meditativemessage & again for Random Olive's #brushletterpracticechallenge. Otherwise you'll find me posting project time sneak peek & set ups along with the occasional crafty haul.
Periscope is also another good place to find me as I'm doing my best to participate in the #HandmadeScope prompts put together by Amanda Sue Howell over at her Handmade Scope Periscope Challenge group. You'll see more expansion on the project time, little peeks into my process & studio/office, and just random bits from the artist behind the art (because it's easy to hide behind my art a lot of the time!)
As you can see there's a lot going on and that's not even the half of it! I'm thrilled to have you along on this journey with me and I look forward to sharing the evolution of my dreams and visions with you!
